Where is the Lymph Node Locations
Most people don’t know where their lymph nodes are located in their bodies or how many there are. The lymph node locations are in the armpit, groin, neck, chest and abdomen. These are where the nodes are grouped in clusters and are the most vulnerable for infection. There are no nodes, however, in the central nervous system. These nodes, which make up the lymphatic system, act as a filter no matter where they are located. Together, they make up reticular connective tissue which are filled with lymphocytes and it is these which destroy the bacteria and viruses that attack the areas that the nodes are in. The cervical lymph nodes are in the head and neck area and these are in 6 different groups. The anterior cervical nodes are very deep and lie directly in the muscles that help you turn your neck and head. These are also the nodes that help to drain the tonsils and thyroid gland. The posterior cervical nodes are in a line at the back or base of the neck. This node also extends from the middle of the forehead to the shoulder bone. These are the nodes that the doctor will feel of if he thinks that you might have a sinus infection. Just below both sides of the jaw lie the submandibular lymph nodes.These also help drain the tonsils as well as the phyarynx. Just underneath your chin are the sub-mental lymph nodes. These are the nodes that also help drain the teeth of any infection as well as the floor of the mouth. In the hollow area just above the collarbone are the supraclavicular lymph nodes. It is these nodes that help drain both the chest and the stomach if there is any infection in these areas.
The arm is where the second set of nodes are located and they are in 2 categories. (1) There are shallow, or superficial, nodes that run through the entire arm. Most of them, though, are in the palms of the hands and where your fingers flex. Different lymph nodes locations are here. The supratrochlear lymph nodes are just above the elbow and the deltoideopectoral lymph nodes are in the bottom of the arm. (2) The deeper nodal complex make up the 20-30 individual glands that are located in the arm.
In your lower limbs are the third set of lymph nodes. These nodes are called the inguinal lymph nodes. First are the deep inguinal lymph nodes and are located in the femoral veins. The other is the superficial inguinal lymph nodes. There are 10 of these right underneath the hip in the shape of a triangle. This is one of the largest groups of the lymph node locations. All of the lymph nodes have their own specific purpose.
